Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which the therapist places special cups with vaccum pressure on your skin for a few minutes, mechanically creating space between the fascial layers. It can also create a neuro-chemical response, enhance mild immune response to the area and allow for visual cueing and haptic (touch) awareness. Traditional types include flash cupping where cups are removed and applied quickly, to facilitate neurosensory input creating pain reduction. In static or "dry" cupping, cups remain in place for a few minutes to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system for a calming effect as well as draws fluids from the area to promote healing. Massage cupping involves gliding the cups over affected areas and acts as myofascial release. Sessions may include any of these techniques, based on your needs. Add-on charge of $10.
*Wet cupping involves creating small incisions in the skin, and is not practiced in this office.*
